En las playas de Palermo
They had sworn eternal love,
Drunk by cocktails and the sea,
There was no other place they wanted to be.
In the dim light, hot like inferno,
Purple sky and that white dove,
Drunk by lovemaking, he sat on one knee,
She said “yes” and they danced in glee.
Back to the city, en la casa,
Love had turned into arguments,
She was dreaming of Palermo,
He’d drink cocktails all day long.
Ten years later, two beautiful children,
Scheduled to see their papa during weekends…
He was dreaming of Palermo,
Mama’d drink cocktails all day long.
En las playas de Palermo,
There’d still be the sound of love,
Only a memory in the sand washed by sea,
There was the place they once longed to be.
Their two children, now adults,
Followed their parents’ last request,
Scattered their ashes into the sea
En las playas de Palermo
And for one moment, ‘twas like one could hear
A couple laughing, drunk by cocktails and the sea,
While the waves would form a shadow
Of a man sitting down on one knee...
